Reporting a poisoning

Reporting pesticide poisonings is vital for understanding the extent of pesticide-related illnesses. In some states, physicians are required to report pesticide poisoning; in others it is a reportable condition. The PAN Pesticide Poisoning Diagnostic Tool makes reporting easy, providing direct links through which to download appropriate forms from state offices, as well as links to state reporting requirements..

 Reporting information resources

The primary source of state reporting requirements are state departments of health. If state reporting laws are available online, those links are provided. Reporting contact information was collected by direct contact with departments of health, and state or regional poison control centers and from online sources. PANNA staff also consulted with members of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health’s (NIOSH) Sentinel Event Notification System for Occupational Risk (SENSOR) Pesticide Group to obtain
state-specific information.
